There has been talk of deducting the amount of remittances from US foreign aid to the Third World especially Mexico. I think that if the remittance monies were used correctly they could be a powerful tool within famlies to create economic opportunity back there. What should be deducted from US foreign aid is the cost of deportation. Remittances are sent by the individual illegal aliens not directly by foreign governments. Governments do not have that much control over what individuals send their relatives. The governments could be much more responsible for illegal border crossing in the case of Mexico or overstays. Suddenly Mexico would start advertising not to go without a proper set of papers.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
