Mexican Immigrant Sentenced for Selling Meth

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that Jorge Vasquez-Herrera, age 40, of Mexico, was sentenced November 16, 2007, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann to 240 months custody and three years of supervised release. Vasquez-Herrera was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in April 2007 for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. On July 20, 2007, Vasquez-Herrera pled guilty to the indictment. The charge relates to the conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine between August 6, 2004, and February 15, 2006. This case was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller. Vasquez-Herrera was taken into custody to begin serving his sentence. # # #

Eight Sentenced For Selling Meth
Eight people have been sentenced to federal prison for selling methamphetamine in South Dakota.
According to court documents and prosecutors, the dealing went on from August 2004 to February 2006.
Jorge Vasquez-Herrera of Mexico is the only non-South Dakotan listed. He got the most time, 20 years.
