Warrensburg Traffic Stop Nets Three Illegals

WARRENSBURG—A traffic stop in Warrensburg early Tuesday morning resulted in the arrests of three illegal immigrants allegedly in possession of forged documents.



About 12:29 a.m. Tuesday, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a Subaru passenger car on State Route 9 in the Town of Warrensburg for numerous traffic violations.



Upon speaking with the occupants, police said three were found to be in possession of forged documents.



Sgt. Richard Backus said all three subjects with addresses in Whitehall possessed permanent resident cards and social security cards which where found to counterfeit. The driver of the vehicle was also found to be in possession of a forged Mexico driver’s license. All three subjects have been residing in New York for approximately two years as illegal immigrants, Backus said.



Arrested were Edgar Luna Canela, 19, Beckwith St.; Gabriel Corona Cruz, 23, South William St; and Lorenzo Mendez Cristiani, 24, Beckwith St., all of Whitehall.



The three were each charged with felony second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and are being held in the Warren County Correctional Facility pending arraignment in local criminal court. Immigration was notified and further proceedings are pending.
