The following my friends is a sample of what Border Patrol has endured this past week in El Paso and the surrounding areas due to the historic storm that hit last Tuesday and which generated a new record for freezing temperatures.

The Border Patrol does not just consist of agents. There is also a large crew of maintenance personnel that are responsible for all the facilities. This storm has produced an overwhelming amount of problems for the Border Patrol. It started with the electricity which failed due to freezing. Many generators failed to function at a lot of the BP facilities. Without power, even the main gates to facilities failed to operate. We were then forced into rolling blackouts with almost no...if not....NO warning. As the temperatures got lower and lower, the water lines froze all over the area. The temperatures started to go up within the last two days and which then caused pipes to thaw and burst. The maintenance crews for Border Patrol have been running non-stop since last week under extremely grueling circumstances. El Paso basically ran out of plumbing supplies two or three days ago.
