Troopers George Pearce and Ian Llewellyn of the Brewster barracks responded to the area of 2621 Carmel Ave., after someone called 911 to report the drunk men. The troopers saw Ottoniel Monroy, 29, of Brewster, who was highly intoxicated as he walked in the road near Putnam Avenue, police said.

The troopers took Monroy into custody then discovered the federal immigration warrant for failure to appear for removal from the U.S., police said.

The warrant was confirmed through federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Monroy was taken to the Putnam County jail in Carmel, where he will be held until being turned over to immigration officials.
