Border Patrol search centers on Green Valley

A Border Patrol helicopter circled over Green Valley and south to the Canoa Rest stop Saturday afternoon, but an agency spokesperson said it was no major event.

Agents were looking for a driver but had no more specifics Saturday evening.

“We’ve got the car, and we’re searching for the driver,” said Capt. Gus Soto, spokesperson for the Tucson sector.

Green Valley has been a busy place in the past month.

Two illegal entrants were killed and another wounded near the mines west of town in late March; 66 undocumented alien were arrested in a pursuit west of Green Valley last Sunday when several shots were fired; and twice last week west side residents reported gunfire.

Green Valley is where I worked for the Sheriff's Dept. for 10 years. Things run rampant there and there's not enough deputies assigned there to make a dent and BP's presence is intermittent, they're focused more at the border and GV is 60 miles inland.
