Proposed bill would require cities enforce immigration laws

Proposed bill would require cities to enforce immigration laws

House Bill 13 would deny homeland security funds to cities and agencies in Texas that declare themselves "santuaries" for illegal immigrants. Ten years ago, the Austin city council passed a resolution which states that Austin is "a safe zone" where treated everyone is treated equally, regardless of immigration status. However, Mayor Will Wynn says that's not exactly the same as a "sanctuary."

If passed, the law would effectively require local governments and law enforcement agencies to fully enforce state and federal laws related to immigration. Cities or agencies that refused to enforce immigration laws as provided by the measure could also lose homeland security funds for a period of three years.

Big deal, those cities or agencies need to have their members suspended or have them do jail time for breaking the law..that would be real enforcement.
