A Topeka restaurant owner is accused of harboring illegal aliens.

A federal grand jury indicted 33-year old Amarpreet Singh on three counts of concealing an illegal alien for commercial advantage.

The indictment says Singh had three illegal aliens working at his restaurant, Globe Indian Cuisine in downtown Topeka.

They lived in an apartment he provided.

An investigator's affidavit says Topeka police were called to the apartment in April, when one of the workers was found dead in the apartment.

Topeka Restaurant Owner Sentenced For Harboring Illegal Immigrants

    Reporter: Associated Press

    November 25, 2009

A Topeka restaurant owner has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison of harboring illegal immigrants to work for him.

Amarpreet Singh, owner of the Globe Restaurant, was sentenced
this week to three 18-month terms but will serve them at the same
time. The 34-year-old was convicted in April of three counts of
    harboring unauthorized workers.

Prosecutors had claimed Singh mistreated the workers and kept
them in line through abuse, arguing he should receive up to 33
months in prison. But U.S. District Judge Carlos Murguia rejected
efforts to enhance Singh's sentence and went with the low end of
    the possible range.

Murguia did order Singh to also pay more than $55,000 in
    penalties.

The 'American' "New Boy Network" - one special interest ethno-centric group member "lifts up" another.

No mention of Singh's citizenship or immigration status, and it can be assumed he will be allowed to remain in the country.

I wonder if Judge Murguia is a relative of LaRaza president Janet Murguia, also a Kansas native?
