Undocumented Immigrant Charged With Attempted Rape
Man Also Charged With Home Invasion, Unlawful Restraint

(STNG) WHEATON, Ill. An illegal immigrant residing in Addison has been arrested for the home invasion and attempted rape of a woman in her apartment, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.

Luis Jaramillo, 38, of 533 Green Oaks Court South, Addison, has been charged with home invasion, a Class X Felony, unlawful restraint and criminal sexual abuse, according to a release from the state’s attorney’s office.

Prosecutors allege that on Wednesday, June 21, at about 6:37 a.m., Jaramillo attempted to enter an apartment other than his own on Green Oaks Court South, the release stated. Upon hearing noises at the front door, the victim placed a 911 call, and while she was still on the phone with dispatcher, Jaramillo allegedly kicked open the door to the apartment, according to the release.

The victim ran into her bedroom, where Jaramillo allegedly followed her, knocked her to the floor and attempted to rape her, the release stated.
Addison police officers arrived and apprehended Jaramillo without incident, the release states.

Jaramillo appeared in Bond Court on Thursday morning and Judge Joseph Bongiorno set bond at $1 million, the release said. His next scheduled court date is July 17 in front of Judge Robert Anderson, according to the release.

If found guilty of all charges, Jaramillo could face up to 30 years in prison, the release said. The state’s attorney’s office has also contacted Immigration officials regarding Jaramillo, who is in the United States illegally, according to the release.
