ANNAPOLIS - Two men charged Feb. 10 with burglarizing a liquor store in the Annapolis area and another in Grasonville have been tied to a dozen break-ins in three surrounding counties, according to county police.

Police last week charged Rudy David Zelaya, 24, and Quintin Umamzor Mejia, 34, both of 55th River Place in Riverdale, with second- and fourth-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft and destruction of property in connection with an early-morning burglary at the Bay Bridge Liquor Store on Whitehall Road.

State police officials said the pair also broke into Winchester Liquors on Evans Avenue in Grasonville less than an hour later.

During their investigation, detectives learned the men were wanted for questioning in burglaries in Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties, police said.

Police said they're working with law enforcement agencies in those jurisdictions to close a dozen separate burglary cases.

Zelaya and Mejia are being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Parole without bond at the request of the federal Department of Homeland Security because of their illegal immigrant status.
