The deportation of illegal immigrants is on the rise, according to immigration officials who attribute the record numbers to increased enforcement.

Deportations in the first five and a half months of fiscal year 2008 were higher than in all of 2001, according to U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement figures. In all of 2001, 116,202 immigrants were deported. To date in 2008, 119,429 immigrants have been ordered to return home, records show.

Scott Sutterfield, assistant field office director in the Office of Detention and Removal in New Orleans, said that over the last several years immigration officials have redoubled their efforts to detain and deport illegal immigrants.

So many illegal aliens in Tennessee. There is an ICE office in Chattanooga and Cleveland,TN law enforcement says that they will not come when called. Another reason to have 287 g. It requires them to be more pro active with the partnership.

Today, I called every office, including Washington and district offices of a Tennessee Senator to tell them to watch the Senator Elizabeth Dole ad with the Sheriffs in North Carolina. Not a one of them had viewed the ad and I suggested that every staffer and Senator Lamar Alexander do just that, view it. One staffer said that the Sheriff in Shelby County (Memphis) spent time with Senator Alexander & decided that it was not appropriate at this time. They don't really have a need. Memphis with FedEx is one of the biggest areas for drugs and illegal aliens. It is an area with sex and human smuggling that involves illegal aliens. The staffer then said that the 287 g was not being funded and that 5 officers would need to be trained. I suggested that everyone think outside of the box and get several counties together to train one or two people who could be the deputies to do the checks and have the training in 287 g. I finally just said that Senator Dole is doing something for her state, and Senator Alexander and Senator Bob Corker need to do more. Alexander did help to acquire 287g for Nashville, but too many other counties are in desperate need. The Sheriff of Memphis may have other reasons not to want the 287 g such as other sanctuary cities do not want it.

Bradley County and Cleveland,Tn which are mentioned in the above article supply fake and stolen documents to illegal aliens from everywhere and both the Sheriff Tim Gobble and the City of Cleveland,TN Police Chief Wes Snyder have been told that citizens will pay for the 287 g training. Gangs, Murder, Drunk Driving,Millions of lost education dollars, overcrowding, special interest groups have resulted from the endless thousands that make their way to Bradley County.
