    Hispanics remaking the Deep South

    Hispanics remaking the Deep South

A growing Hispanic population in southern states could recarve the political map as more immigrants go to the voting booth.

WASHINGTON -- Huge surges among Hispanic populations in the Deep South could mean a political sea change over the next two decades, as immigrants become naturalized and they and their American-born children register to vote.

The states with some of the largest percentages in Hispanic population growth make up a large swath of the Southeast: Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, according to an analysis of the most recent census figures by the Pew Hispanic Center.

In all those Republican-dominated states, the percentage of Hispanics nearly doubled.

In Georgia, the Hispanic population grew by 96 percent over the past decade, according to the Pew study.

Only 23 percent of Georgia’s Hispanic population is eligible to vote, compared with 42 percent nationwide, figures that reflect the state’s high numbers of young Hispanics and new immigrants, said Mark Hugo Lopez, the associate director of the Pew Hispanic Center.

However, in Georgia, as in many parts of the country, “there are a number of campaigns to continue to focus on people who are here illegally to become citizens,â€

They can push all they want, they can't legally vote and if they do some states are going to make sure there is a penalty. Georgia still has chain gangs and a lot of road work tha needs to be done.....

Even if the illegals aren't eligible to vote, fast forward a few years to when their anchor kids come of age...America needs to end birthright citizenship before its too late.

They are everywhere, even in the smallest of towns. I travel throughout the mid-Tenn area daily and everywhere you look from town to town. All this has happened in the last 10 years. Thank you Bush!

the problem with this is that most hispanics that come over hear do not understand they ways of our government, so they will vote for those that will give and not realize that the cookie jar will soon be empty.

But by continuing to push anti-immigration measures, Republicans may miss an opportunity to connect with Hispanic voters, said Gillespie, of Emory University.
Well, majorities of current Hispanic likely voters actually want enforcement of our immigration laws - as do majorities of blacks and Asians. The real problem is that Bamacrats refuse to take a clear stand on illegals.

IMO we need a moratorium on immigration, Universal E-Verify, and a restatement by Congress of the original intent of the 14th Amendment. (For those who don't already know, the Senator who insisted on including the citizenship clause - "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" - said that being a citizen precluded any other allegiance. Illegals are still subject to the jurisdiction of their home governments, so they cannot possibly convey citizenship to their offspring - unless, of course, we continue to ignore the stated intent of the authors of the 14th Amendment.)

I agree with yoy gofer illegals where coming in pretty bad to begin with Bush start talking blanket amnesty and they flooded across hoping it would happen. Thanks to Bush this country has been destoyed in many ways. But still no one in congress is willing to do anything about illegals. These illegals are trying to take over the south me being a southern man born and raised in KY.they really havent understood what the Confederate flag along with the AMERICAN FLAG is they over ride any mexican flag, dont get me wrong here im not against blacks some of my good friends are black, but these flags represents the south. So when the illegals learn for what they stand for and we are willing to stand again to hold onto our south they may want to head the other way, because we here are not going to stand by and let any illegals take the south that AMERICANS HAVE FOUGHT AND DIED FOR!!!!!!
AND YES I SAY YALL IM AS COUNTRY AS COUNTRY CAN BE ask Stevetheroofer.

Illegal aliens are very scary to border ranchers. But anchor babies endanger far greater numbers and threaten American sovereignty. According to The El Paso Times, "Hispanic students for the first time make up slightly more than half of Texas public school children. Enrollment data from the Texas Education Agency show that this school year Hispanic students reached 50.2 percent of Texas' 4.9 million public school children, compared with nearly 49 percent last year...." Anyone doubt that these (ahem) students will have children? I wonder if they'll seek citizen funded breakfast & lunch, citizen funded medical care, citizen funded college tuition -- oops! Asked and answered.

I've lived in South Carolina and I have a lot of family down south in general. These illegals better check themselves because the hillbillies down south are not a bit afraid of being "non-politically correct." Because I know for a fact that if these fools push southerners too far they will put the illegals in their place, the south is not a place where they are terribly concerned about PC.
