ICE shares more than $400,000 with North Carolina state and local law enforcement agencies

CHARLOTTE, NC - More than $400,000 seized from a North Carolina drug dealer will be shared among five state and local law enforcement agencies following a joint investigation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Delbert Richburg presented a commemorative check today to the agency heads who participated at a news conference held by the Yadkinville Police Department in Yadkinville, NC. Other participating agencies included the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI); the Yadkin County Sheriff's Department; the Iredell County Sheriff's Department and the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department.

"This symbolic check serves as a reminder of the great working relationship between the law enforcement community here in North Carolina," said ASAC Richburg. "The law-abiding citizens who live in our great state should know that we will continue tracking down drug traffickers and others engaged in illicit activities."

The $401,880 seized will be divided among the participating agencies as part of ICE's asset sharing agreement. The monies seized will go back into local budgets to continue the work of fighting crime and keeping drugs off our streets.

Also seized as part of this joint investigation was a 2004 Jeep Liberty, a 2003 Dodge Durango, a 2000 Nissan truck and a 2000 Honda Odyssey. The Durango and Liberty were equipped with non-factory installed hidden compartments to hide money and drugs.

The subject linked to this drug case pleaded guilty and is currently serving a term of up to 83 months in prison.
