Utah finds possible breach in immigrant list probe

Utah finds possible breach in immigrant list probe

    Posted 2m ago

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A spokeswoman for Utah Gov. Gary Herbert says investigators have found evidence that suggests a state database was breached to create a list of 1,300 purported illegal immigrants that has been circulating around the state.

Herbert spokeswoman Angie Welling says the information will likely be turned over to the Utah attorney general's office by Monday.

The list, including names and Social Security numbers, was anonymously mailed to news media, law enforcement and other government officials. It demands that those on the list be deported, although some named on the list say they are in the country legally.

Intentionally releasing a private record in Utah is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail. If the record was stolen, it could be prosecuted as a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

This is kind of scary. How was this info accessed? If it is from some kind of agency database, then why are those illegals still here. If it is some other source, what is the source? What source could compile this type of info about such a large number of people?

Mr. YapÃ*as, the former director of the state’s Office of Hispanic Affairs, said he was convinced that the list had come from the State Department of Workforce Services, an agency that combines resources for job seekers, employers and people seeking assistance like food stamps or Medicaid. The list includes information that other agencies might collect, he said, but Workforce Services’ application form includes a question that other information-laden agencies like the Division of Motor Vehicles, for example, would not ever ask: “Is anyone in your home currently pregnant?â€

Uhhh.....That is not the only thing that was breached here. It sure is funny how our laws are being selectively enforced.

Ahhh!! I missed that part. Somehow I thought it was some kind of inside job, which would be very scary. A hack job is scary too because they got in, but still not as bad. But...OK....if there was a databese of illegals then why were the illegals still allowed to stay?

Because the state can't deport anyone and the Federal Government won't.
