Why is Arpaio alone in upholding law?

The voters of Arizona are overwhelmingly (supposedly) in favor of stopping illegal immigration, so I was totally taken back when pro- illegal immigration Gov. Janet Napolitano was re-elected.

We now have the governor signing an executive order cutting off some funds to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, which we all know is just retribution for them doing a job that the governor and the mayor of Phoenix do not want Sheriff Joe Arpaio doing. We can now see what happens when the wrong people are voted into office based only on promises to do something about illegal immigration.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is about the only law-enforcement agency that is actively trying to do something about the illegal-alien problem, but it is obvious it is receiving little or no help from the governing personnel other law-enforcement agencies, namely the chief of police for Phoenix and Mayor Phil Gordon.

There is no way we can get a handle on this illegal-alien problem until all law-enforcement agencies cooperate.

For the life of me, I just can't understand the attitude that so many of our "leaders" have taken and their seemingly total disregard for enforcing the law. - Gary D. Woods,Avondale
