Arizona police conducting traffic-safety operation

State police will be conducting a traffic-safety operation from the California-Arizona line to the state line with New Mexico.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the detail will be on Intestates 8 and 10.

Officers will be positioned every 10 miles along both freeways watching for traffic violations, helping stranded drivers and responding to any crashes.

DPS says there's now more traffic on state highways for the summer vacation season.

DPS advises drivers to always wear their seatbelts, get plenty of rest before a long drive, take occasional breaks to reduce fatigue, carry extra water in case of emergencies and avoid using cell phones when behind the wheel.
