Forsyth County leaders listened last night as a critic of the nation’s immigration policies argued that stopping illegal immigration requires the political will of local, state and federal officials.

William Gheen, the president of Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, spoke to the Forsyth County Republican Women’s club at Forsyth Technical Community College’s West Campus.

Gheen said that illegal immigrants are corroding the social fabric of American communities and urged local leaders - including County Commissioners Gloria Whisenhunt, Debra Conrad and Bill Whiteheart, as well as Sheriff Bill Schatzman, all Republicans and who were at the meeting - to take action locally.

    Good job William!!!

Let's just hope some solution can be found which will appeal to the Sheriff before Forsyth County ends up with a bigger problem than it has already.....we all know what happens when other locales institute strict enforcement and illegals deluge areas where they have less to worry about.

But Schatzman has not committed to applying to the federal program, saying that the sheriff’s office does not have enough staff or jail space to accommodate the additional work. He said last night that if the federal government could help house illegal immigrants and staff the program he would be more interested in it.
That is to be the poorest excuse I’ve heard yet... with the mass crime from immigrants in your state William ,they cant afford not to change for the good.. I don’t know, it sounds like Schatzman hands are tied with another agenda. Only 20,000 don’t think that’s even enough to start let alone look at it...

I cant wait till some one with experance in this comes around talking here about local law enforcement doing something more... We just here from the oppisestion never the good guys and when we do hear from the good side its hush hush...
