Census: Hispanics, blacks making up more of population

Nyemah Jones, 9, wrapped her arm around her older brother, Eman, trying her best to dunk him under water as he struggled to pull her with him.

Their 4-year-old brother, Zion, who doesn't know how to swim yet, watched from the edge of the pool.

Like all the other children and parents at Eden Pool in southern Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon, the Jones siblings are black.

Their mother, Raylin Jones, said she has never seen Hispanics, whites or Asians at the city pool. But she is starting to see families of different races and ethnicities settle on her block of North Rodney Drive.
