U.S Border Patrol agents on ATVs discover weapons, drugs

Slideshow Officials say a Border Patrol ATV unit discovered weapons and marijuana in a remote desert area west of Tucson Tuesday.

According to a news release, agents assigned to the Ajo Border Patrol All Terrain Vehicle unit seized 430 pounds of marijuana along with three shotguns and an AK-47 automatic rifle.

The items were discovered after agents arrested seven suspected undocumented immigrants and conducted a search of the area.

The marijuana was said to be valued at $344,000, according to the new release.

Reportedly, in the first eight months of this fiscal year the Tucson sector Border Patrol has seized 830,000 pounds of marijuana and 42 weapons.
