LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- In Mexico, there have been demonstrations by loved ones of a wealthy industrial kidnapped two years ago, held for ransom and later murdered.

One of the suspects is 27 year old Brenda Quevedo Cruz, who was arrested Monday by U.S. immigration agents who found her working at Mojito's restaurant in Holiday Manor.

An immigration agent told me this afternoon that Cruz is charged with being in this country illegally since this summer. And what about the possible kidnap ransom murder connection?

The agent says his bureau has heard the same reports but nothing is confirmed. Right now they're asking Mexican law enforcement if she has an outstanding warrant in her homeland regarding that ransom-murder.

As for the restaurant, there's no indication from agents they did anything wrong. Its owner told me in the past hour Cruz worked for several months as a waitress, did a good job, but called herself "Nadia" and used a different last name when she applied for the job, not the one by which U.S. immigration agents know her.

What's next for Cruz? Immigration agents say she will not remain in Louisville. Instead, she'll be brought before an immigration judge in Chicago for arraignment on the immigration violations.

That could occur within the next two weeks, by which time U.S. authorities could know if Cruz is more than just an illegal immigrant.
