U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (01/12/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 10,824 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested one criminal alien and one gang member. There were five rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents were assaulted by unidentified subjects throwing rocks near Calexico, California.




While attempting to arrest two suspected illegal aliens, the agents came under attack by subjects throwing rocks. Agents deployed less lethal munitions and their assailants broke off the attack, retreating into Mexico. The agents affected the arrest of the two illegal aliens without further incident.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction for sex with a minor and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,762 pounds of marijuana from a partially constructed house near Garceno, Texas. Agents observed a well-used trail leading to the house and observed numerous bundles of suspected narcotics in plain view. Upon further inspection, the bundles were found to contain marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico and a United States Citizen (USC) near Meneger’s Dam, Arizona. The subjects were attempting to enter Mexico with six firearms, eight magazines, 184 rounds of ammunition, and personal use marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Centro, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a missing/endangered person. She claimed to have been kidnapped in Anaheim, California and transported to Tijuana, Mexico by her boyfriend. The case was referred to the appropriate law enforcement entities.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,596 pounds of marijuana, a Ford van, and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hidalgo, Texas. Agents located the vehicle and the subject near the Rio Grande River. The marijuana was discovered inside the van. Records checks revealed the van was reported stolen in Mexico.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. The female subject was lowered over the international border fence by unidentified subjects using a rope and harness. When agents encountered the pregnant subject, she stated her water had broken and she was in labor with triplets. The subject was transported to a hospital by local emergency medical services personnel.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 956 pounds of marijuana in Calexico, California. The marijuana was discovered wrapped in cellophane packages concealed under a rail car in a local train yard.


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,861 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the trailer, and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,362 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Hebbronville, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection, and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,558 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet Suburban, and arrested a USC near Weslaco, Texas.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents were assaulted by unidentified subjects throwing rocks near El Centro, California. Approximately five subjects assaulted the agents near the international border fence. Agents deployed less lethal munitions and their attackers broke off the assault, retreating further into Mexico.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two USCs and seized a Ford Explorer near El Paso, Texas. Agents stopped the subjects after they utilized a strobe-type light and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on an unmarked Border Patrol vehicle. Records checks revealed both subjects had extensive criminal histories. The case was referred to local law enforcement officials.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 729 pounds of marijuana, a Dodge truck, and arrested two USCs near Calexico, California. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft drop several bundles of suspected narcotics in the United States. Agents responded to the drop zone and seized 244 pounds of marijuana and arrested the subjects. Agents seized an additional 485 pounds of marijuana located in a shed near the drop zone.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered two tunnels near the DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona. Both tunnels were under construction and were discovered by agents and Mexican officials during a sweep of an underground drainage system.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States.
