CA: Escondido Police Revise Policy On Immigrant Crime

Escondido Police Revise Policy On Immigrant Crime

Escondido is broadening its policy when it comes to crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

The revised policy was discussed at a city council meeting Wednesday night. In addition to turning over illegal immigrants that commit felonies, officers will now be able to hand over those that commit misdemeanors.

But a plan that would have called for Border Patrol agents to work with officers will not happen. Police argued that it only would have made their job more difficult.

No official vote needed to be taken Wednesday night. The police chief just presented his report on the policy which is already in place.
