AZ: Immigration sting nets 85 in Yavapai County
Immigration sting nets 85 in Yavapai County
Saturday, December 01, 2007
Law enforcement in neighboring Yavapai County, including the county sheriff's office and the Prescott Police Department, partnered with the federal Immigration Customs Enforcement department this week to round up undocumented workers in the country.
Operation "Return to Sender" netted 85 undocumented immigrants in the area, according to information from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. One of those arrested was a convicted sex offender who had been previously deported. He now faces federal prosecution for re-entry.
"This type of cooperation during the last 12 months has resulted in nearly 550 criminal aliens being reported from Yavapai County, and we look forward to more in the future," Sheriff Steve Waugh stated in a press release.
