Thread: So why do we need illegals to pick tomatoes?

Very cool video and I would like to know WHY machines like these are not used -- ?? Farmworkers in Florida are protesting in Tampa at Publix Supermarkets for more money per pound but why not just eliminate the pickers????

I understand that Roma Tomatoes were developed to be picked by machine

I use them all the time and they are fine

There are very few crops that need to be picked by hand anymore

They don't pick tomatoes, they have taken the factory jobs here and the americans I have talked to that work in one of the factories with them are not happy because they come around on Friday and pass out the paychecks and the illegals have a bigger paycheck because no taxes are taken out of their checks.
