It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.
No it is not. Some people don't know what that phrase means. This country was founded by religious people who didn't want to be ruled by the Church of England or any church. But they were still religious, free to practice any religion and free from the tyrannical rule of the Church of England. Religious symbols are everywhere in our government including the courts. That doesn't mean church and state are not separate.
