Conservative bloggers slam Glenn Beck for 'content theft'

07:54 AM

APA conservative website reports that "a remarkably large number" of conservative writers and activists are furious at broadcaster Glenn Beck for what the web site calls "content theft."

The Daily Callernotes that Beck, over the years, has often credited fellow conservatives for their work, but adds: "Yet in many other instances, say dozens of conservative journalists who spoke to The Daily Caller, he has not, often taking elaborate steps to cloak the origins of the material."

Among the examples, the website reports, is the man behind Rebel Pundit who complains that Beck's Fox TV shows blurred his logo on a video from his web site showing left-wing protesters demanding amnesty for illegal immigrants. Conservative blogger, Liberty Chick, says Beck used "in exact form and without any attribution" a chart that purports to track billionaire George Soros' "influence over media organizations..."

Conservative publisher Andrew Breitbart says the unhappiness has become especially sharp after Beck adopted the slogan "The Truth has No Agenda," which itself appears to have been borrowed.

Beck's office tells The Daily Caller that he is "a busy man" who broadcasts nearly 1,000 hours a year and that there could have been some lapses. But, his office insists, "Glenn's shows have a high-standard and a long history of championing bloggers and attributing sources whenever possible including frequently providing extensive footnotes on GlennBeck.com."
