Ridiculous assumptions, preposterous conclusion

Re "Democrats doing what voters sent them to do" (Monitor editorial, April : The author (who apparently isn't secure enough in his position to post his name) makes many inane and ridiculous assumptions that lead to a preposterous conclusion.

"Old timers can pick the day when New Hampshire began to go to hell in a hand-basket." Are you saying natives are senile?

You then try to equate drinking and driving to not wearing a seatbelt. Here's the difference for those of you who apparently just can't grasp the concept of individual liberty. People who drink while driving become a danger to themselves and others. Not wearing a seatbelt endangers no one but the person not wearing it.

I agree with the sentiment that choosing not to wear a seatbelt is unintelligent. But it is a choice. Apparently the Monitor staff feels that "thanks to the influx of better-educated flatlanders" (honestly, do you guys read the pabulum you write?) New Hampshire is now better educated, wealthier and caring. Gee, thanks.

If we wanted Big Brother, we could have just moved south one state to the land of Kennedy.

What's next? Are you going to protect us from not wearing motorcycle helmets? Are you going to capitulate and vote to participate in the Real ID Act? Are you going to save us from handguns?
To the hand-wringing, bed-wetting, pontificating liberals at the Monitor, I'd like to point out something you may be confused about: You guys know this isn't Concord, Mass., it's Concord, N.H., right?

I wonder how many "Vote for Howard Dean" bumper stickers I could count driving through the Monitor parking lot.
