Even as extremist Islamic groups pledge their dedication to destroying America and Israel, countered by deafening silence from the majority of the faith’s more moderate community, Barack Obama continues to insist that there is no link between the religion and its murderous adherents around the world.
Earlier this month, he received significant criticism for asserting that the terrorist network Islamic State, also known as ISIS, “is not Islamic.”

Nonetheless, he continued to build on that narrative during a speech this week to the United Nations General Assembly. While citing the need to “take concrete steps to address the danger posed by religiously motivated fanatics,” Obama concluded that Islam itself should not be our focus.
He stated that “we have reaffirmed that the United States is not and never will be at war with Islam,” rehashing the familiar refrain that the religion “teaches peace.”
Practitioners of Islam are just trying to “live with dignity and a sense of justice,” he continued, chastising those who seek to point out a pervasive strain of violence within the global Muslim community.
“And when it comes to America and Islam,” he said, “there is no us and them. There is only us, because millions of Muslim Americans are part of the fabric of our country.”
Obama concluded that “humanity’s future depends on us united against those who would divide us along fault lines of tribe or sect; race or religion.”
While the issue of international threats occupied much of his speech, he did dedicate a significant portion of his remarks to once again pointing out America’s perceived faults.
“I realize that America’s critics will be quick to point out that at times we too have failed to live up to our ideals; that America has plenty of problems within our own borders,” he said. “This is true.”

President Obama apologizing at the U.N. saying America hasn't always lived up to it's ideas. I'd say that started when he got elected POTUS!

He went on to cite the Ferguson, Mo. police shooting that left robbery suspect Michael Brown dead as evidence of “our own racial and ethnic tensions.”

What a disgrace he is: in apologizing for Islam at UN today, Obama brings up Ferguson, MO. "You see, we have our own tensions & issues."

Obama suggested, however, that the U.S. has evolved in recent years – specifically during his administration. “America is not the same as it was 100 years ago, 50 years ago, or even a decade ago,” he said. “Because we fight for our ideals and are willing to criticize ourselves when we fall short.” Much to the disappointment of his detractors, Obama has proven quite fond of criticizing America.
