Store greeter: a job for George W?

His father went on to a lucrative job as an adviser to an investment firm. Bill Clinton has earned more than $90m for his speeches. So how will George Bush spend his post-presidential time?

A chain of hardware stores in his home state of Texas has come up with a career plan, offering the former president a job as a greeter at its Dallas branch.

Bush says he intends to focus on his presidential library, and work on his memoirs, although he has yet to find a publisher.

But even with those obligations, a Dallas businessman says Bush would be a natural fit to welcome people to his chain of stores. In a letter in the Dallas Morning News, Kyle Walters says: "We're confident that your experience ... would make you an excellent candidate for the position."

Some might think a greeter's job a less than illustrious career choice for a former president. But Bush's options may be limited. Speaking and publishers' agents have been less than enthusiastic about booking the former president. And at a time when unemployment is at its highest point in 18 years, a job is a job.

He might do well at Walmart. We could take our shoes off before entering and a direct hit could earn us a coupon good for purchases of American made products (as if we can find any in Walmart).

Salary: $6.55 per hour, no benefits, two 15 minute breaks,
30 minutes for lunch, and no overtime pay!

By the way the store that was offering this job is Elliott's Hardware. An excellent store where the greaters are very knowledgable and know where everything is in the store. I'm not sure Bush could handle the pressure of actually having to know something.

I've got a question to pose here. Why are they putting up a gate and fence on the street that he is moving onto? We don't need this stuff on the border.

He could seriously consider giving a talk to the customers in an auditorium. If they bought enough stuff and their records were clean the could attend. There was a function I worked at back in 1978 in which the jeweler Cartier had a dance in the Seventh Regiment Armory on Park Avenue in New York. The requirement for entry was that you had to have bought US$ 10,000 in the past year. A lot of smaller Texas contractors could qualify for Elliot's.

He could travel with county fairs across the country and sit in a tank for 'Dunk the President' while folks throw their shoe at the target to sink him!

I prefer he just retire and go away.
Writing a book would take a week if it was big print.
The library stuff can fit in a small Ryder truck.
He is a broken man and he spent the last 2-3 years in office sinking us with his stupid
Executive Orders and admitting more of these corrupt trade countries.
I can never forgive him for ruining our country and being the reason Obama is in office.
I'd rather have Steele for President.
I don't care about the color just the content of the person.
Hilliary would have been lots safer for us and she loves America.
