Eric Holder Reveals Effort by Government to Demonize Gun Ownership

(KurtNimmo) – Breitbart contributor Charles Johnson has discovered video footage from 1995 that perfectly demonstrates the attitude of the federal government toward the Second Amendment and the so-called “gun culture” prevalent in America’s heartland.

The video was posted today on the NewsBusters website.

“What we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that’s not cool, that it’s not acceptable, it’s not hip to carry a gun anymore, in the way in which we’ve changed our attitudes about cigarettes,” Holder told the Woman’s National Democratic Club. “You know, when I was growing up, people smoked all the time. Both my parents did. But over time, we changed the way that people thought about smoking, so now we have people who cower outside of buildings and kind of smoke in private and don’t want to admit it.”

The federal government’s effort to demonize the Second Amendment since Holder made his remarks nearly 20 years ago has been nothing short of a dismal failure.

Despite a muster of anti-Second Amendment forces led by Obama, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, Democrats Dianne Feinstein, Charles Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, and state and local governments around the country in the wake of the Newtown massacre, Americans understand the right to own firearms is under attack.

How have millions responded? By purchasing firearms, especially firearms the government deems “assault weapons,” like the AR 15.

In December, according to FBI statistics, gun sales in America have broken all records. “2,783,765 total background checks were carried out to purchase firearms, surpassing the previous record from November 2012 when 2,006,919 checks were performed,” ABC News reported on January 2.

“For the year, 19,592,303 background checks carried out for firearm purchases-a 19 percent rise from 2011.”
