Ensign Tells Republicans to Back Off Reid

Ensign Tells Republicans to Back Off Reid

    Tuesday, 12 Jan 2010 10:42 AM

Nevada Sen. John Ensign said Monday it is wrong for his fellow Republicans to call for the resignation of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid over racially insensitive comments he made about President Obama.

Reid has apologized to Obama since a new book quoted him describing Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign as a light-skinned African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

Ensign said Monday that Reid's apology was sincere and that the Nevada Democrat regretted how his comments were taken.

"I think we need to get away from this politics of gotcha," Ensign told KKOH radio in Reno.

"I don't think there's a person walking, certainly not a politician out there, that hasn't made comments they regret," he said. "When you make those comments, as long as you take responsibility for your comments and apologize for them, I think people should accept that."

Ensign said he was angered by how Democrats treated former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., after he suggested the country might be better off if Strom Thurmond, who ran as a segregationist, would have won the presidency in 1948. Lott resigned shortly after he made the comments.

"Democrats were really wrong in what they did to Trent Lott, and we shouldn't do the same thing to Sen. Reid," Ensign said.

This wasn't a slip of the tongue as Reid and some of the liberal whiners would like us to believe. It was in his book and could have easily been edited out many times before publication. No...Reid is just another hypocrite who talks out both sides of his mouth. He's soon to be a footnote in the history of an election gone terribly wrong.

What....did Reid threaten to stop inviting Ensign to cocktail parties or something?

Reid is a racist and the only thng he's sorry about is that this came back and bit him in his sorry ass. If it were anything else, he had more than ample opportunity to go to obama, tell him this comment was in the book, and it possibly could be taken out of context.

That Reid is a racist is no shock. Name one liberal who isn't and if I'm wrong then explain to me why, then, every single last one of these self appointed moral superiors, champions of the "minority" has done nothng but devise and implement strategies....under the guse of "helping" minorities.....which has never done anything but destroy these people?

Even Lyndon Johnson, with his supposedly "helpful" social model for the "advancement" of minorities, came right out and said that the black population were getting a little bit too uppity for their own good and needed to be "kept in their place".

And that's exactly what people like Reid have spent their lives doing......keeping "them" in "their place" and it's long past time they are exposed as the two faced scum that they are.
