Of course there have been other major movies with Black leads. "I, Robot" starred Will Smith. His role was not of a Black Man, so it had universal appeal. There have been many others. But this was primarily centered on Black characters.
In television there have been historic Black lead shows like Cosby. I think that show was successful because the characters were not written as ethnic Black. they were everyday people. Today we have show like Black-ish which portray more Black issues while looking at them in a comedic manner. I enjoy that show although some of the story-lines get too leftist or Blackish!
This video surprised me. I was expecting more praise. With this review in mind, I would be watching the movie more critically , looking for the instances he pointed out.
But the movie isn't what I expected from the title. Being cheap, I won't see it until it is out on cable.
