Thread: Child Killed in Hit and Run

I looked up woman's booking info and her past. This woman never had a driver's license which in Florida screams illegal especially considering she is in her 30's. There is no immigration hold on her at this time as ICE is not in the jails on the weekend and review cases on weekdays.

Two children riding scooters hit by car; one died at hospital

Two children riding electric motor scooters were struck by a car early Sunday afternoon, killing one. The driver did not stop, authorities said.

Darness Brown, 10, of Boynton Beach, died at Delray Medical Center. Darneisha Sellis, 13, also of Boynton Beach, received minor injuries. The accident occurred at Southwest Ninth Avenue and Third Street, according to the Boynton Beach Police Department.

Neither child was wearing a helmet, police said.

Leticia Flores, 28, was driving a maroon Honda SUV when she hit the girls about 12:48 p.m., police said. Flores told police she was headed to her house in the 300 block of Southwest Ninth Avenue.

After the crash, Flores got out of her car and walked over to the hurt girls but didn't stay at the scene, police said. She later was spotted pulling into the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, where she went inside to buy a drink, police said.

Flores told police she didn't call 9-1-1 because people were helping the girls, including one woman who performed CPR on Darness. Flores thought they would call for help, police said she told investigators.

Flores was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash with death and driving without a license causing death. More charges are pending.
