GREENSBORO, N.C. - A few students and staff at UNCG have tested positive for tuberculosis, but none appear to be contagious, the Guilford County Department of Public Health announced Wednesday, a week after a student was diagnosed with signs and symptoms of TB.

According to the health department, the initial student remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment.

Hundreds of other students and staff who were possibly exposed to the student have been tested, but none have shown evidence of active tuberculosis, which is the type that can spread to others. A few tested positive to the TB skin test, but chest X-rays appeared normal.

The health department said those students are not contagious and do not need to be isolated. Those students will be offered an an antibiotic for free as a precautionary measure.
