They're about to do it again. THURSDAY JULY 1 Congress will vote on whether or not to spend another $33 billion on nation-building in Afghanistan, when we should be spending it here to secure our borders..

The pressure we’ve been applying on Congress to vote against the supplemental funding bill for the war in Afghanistan has made a difference. Forty House members have decided to vote no, and at least 10 more are on the fence.

It’s sad to say that every time I sit down to write to you about Afghanistan, there is more bad news to report. At least 26 NATO soldiers were killed in Afghanistan last week. General McChrystal is facing the reality that Afghans in Kandahar oppose the planned military offensive there, but the US has not seriously explored any viable alternatives.
