It’s unclear what exactly she was doing, but when neighbors found 34-year-old Irdayanti Mukhtar in a bedroom with a man who was not her husband, her case was brought before the local shariah court in Jantho, Indonesia. KNOXVILLE - A 44-year-old Knox County man faces an animal cruelty charge as the Shih Tzu he allegedly beat is in guarded condition recovering from multiple injuries.
Jeffrey Coppock, of Evening Star Lane, was arrested Friday, according to Knox County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Martha Dooley. Coppock was released Saturday from jail after posting a $2,500 bond.
Dooley said a neighbor called authorities about the condition of a dog at the North Knox County home. Dooley said officers found the Shih Tzu in the back yard and it "appeared to have been beaten in a cruel manner," she said.
"The report said the dog had blood around the nose area, appeared to have broken bones, was breathing in short shallow breaths and was wet," Dooley said.
An officer also noted several bloody places inside the home.
Dooley said Knox County Animal Control took the Shih Tzu and a second dog, an Australian mix, to the Young-Williams Animal Center for medical evaluations and treatment.
Dooley said the Shih Tzu was in guarded condition and "is not out of the woods yet." The second dog is doing well, she said.
