An armed 39-year-old Golden Gate man dressed head to toe in black and crouched in the bushes at 1:30 a.m. Saturday to help identify robbers.

That was the reason Jose M. Figueroagalvan, of the 1700 block of 41st Street Southwest, told Collier County sheriff's deputies when they found him lurking in a backyard of someone else's home, according to a report.

Deputies had been patrolling the area on foot after several robberies had taken place. They heard something move in the bushes, shone their light and saw a man in a mask crouched down between some bushes and a fence.

Figueroagalvan, wearing a black shirt, pants, gloves, knitted cap and mask, told deputies that men who live near where Figueroagalvan was hiding had been robbing him and his friends when they walked in the area.

Figueroagalvan wanted to see them coming out of their home to be a good witness, he told deputies.

He was carrying a wrench wrapped in duct tape, a knife, a stun-gun and a loaded Ruger handgun, for which Figueroagalvan had a concealed weapons permit.

The man told deputies he had been carrying the firearm to protect himself in case one of the robbers confronted him.

Figueroagalvan was charged with carrying a concealed weapon relating to the wrench, wearing a mask and loitering.
