(Liberty News)Thanks to Mitt Romney, MA is one of several states running their own government healthcare marketplace. It turns out; their system is just as glitchy and prone to abject failure as healthcare.gov.
According to The Boston Herald, MA’s Healthcare Connector website is making healthy applicants say they have mental diseases before their applications can be processed!
If that isn’t bad enough, people who’ve never spent one day in jail are being told to “confirm their incarceration status” before they can get an insurance quote.
Here are just a few highlights from interviews between irate healthcare customers and Herald reporters:
Adam Romanow: “It immediately brought up, ‘We couldn’t electronically verify your incarceration status. Please submit proof of your incarceration.’ It was crazy … I’ve never had handcuffs on in my life… It’s a nightmare. It’s a total frustration”
Obamacare Supporter, Richard LeSavoy: (Said he couldn’t even login to register) “If I can’t do it, my theory is, nobody can do it.”
Nancy Wilde answered “no” to a question the site prompted her to answer and the portal asked her if she were “locked up in a mental hospital or awaiting arraignment.”
Health Connector administrators refused to answer probing questions from the media, however, one spokesman, Jason Lefferts, offered these comforting words to confused patrons:
“We know some users have had frustrating experiences, and we are doing everything possible to fix the issues those individuals are experiencing…As we are working through the bugs in our system, we encourage people to contact one of our local Navigators for help in completing an application.”

MA POLITICIAN WANTS UNANNOUNCED HOME SEARCHES BY POLICE TO ENFORCE GUN LAW

Swampscott, Massachusetts Selectman Barry Greenfield is pushing a measure to give police the authority to conduct home searches to check proper storage of firearms.
Greenfield said “state law requires Massachusetts gun owners to keep their firearms locked away or rendered inoperable.” There are “600 registered gun owners in [Swampscott],” and the selectman wants police to be able to drop in unannounced, enter the homes of each gun owner, and verify compliance.
According to the Swampscott Patch, Greenfield has spoken with Swampscott Police Chief Ron Madigan about this issue, and has spoken with other selectmen. At least one of the selectmen–Glenn Kessler–said he wants all parties, including citizens, brought together for a discussion on this topic before any action is taken.
Kessler also pointed to civil liberty concerns inherent in allowing police to enter homes unannounced and without first securing a warrant.
