Obama pulls another fast one

It never ceases to amaze me what a bunch of cowards populate Congress. They're so concerned with their own backsides, their re-election and the power it brings that they allow the rape of our Constitution and our country and use the lives of our finest young people as pawns in the political game.

It's easy to forget that what leaders do affects not only their own country but the world as well.

Headlines speculate about Vladimir Putin – the once, and now seemingly always – leader of the new/old Russia/Soviet Union.

First he's president, then he's not; now he is. What will he do, when and why, and how will it affect international politics and strategic alliances?

For those who know history, things don't look good.

It's too bad the same scrutiny isn't paid to Barack Obama and how he uses the U.S. presidency as his own personal, political playground. Never one to let the Constitution get in his way, if there's something he wants, he does it and Obama has done it again.

In a predictable Friday information news dump – the perfect time to release important news yet miss decent news coverage because of weekend deadlines – Obama is getting us into what promises to be another military quagmire across the globe, all in the name of humanitarian efforts.

Obama announced he's decided to send 100 fully-armed, U.S. Special Forces to Uganda to assist locals in disarming the dissident Lord's Resistance Army and its cult-like leader, Joseph Kony.

The LRA is a violent, anti-government insurgency that's has spread fear, bloodshed and death among civilians of several countries for more than 20 years. It stands accused of gross human rights violations as a terrorist organization.

Obama didn't ask Congress or meet with Congress about his decision. He just sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner telling him about it, apparently, hoping Boehner would spread the word.

The Associated Press reported that before Obama sent the letter, he briefed human rights activists about his plan and that their officials were encouraged.

How nice. He makes the decision, tells outside interests first, then he deigns to tell Congress.

Talk about skewed priorities!

Someone please tell this man he was elected to be president of the United States and he has a legal obligation to put American citizens first in his decisions that will affect the country for years to come.

The rationale for the move – according to his letter – is that the deployment "furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter LRA efforts in central Africa."

Keep in mind, this move – whether for political reasons or ulterior motives involving oil and mineral rights – involves more than Uganda.

A quick look at the minimal U.S. news coverage, it would appear the troops will only be in Uganda.

Not so.

The first small group of troops arrived in Uganda on Wednesday – before the letter to Congress was delivered – and the Los Angeles Times reports the rest will be sent to South Sudan, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo over the next month.

Supposedly, the troops will act as "advisers" and while they'll be fully armed, they will not shoot unless fired upon.

Whew, that's a relief!

According to Pentagon spokesman George Little, "This effort is specifically an extension of the Lord's Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009 which Obama signed into law on May 25, 2010. Until recently, the required forces were not available to fulfill this requirement."

Wow! It took two years for us to put together 100 Special Forces troops to do this.

Who ever heard of that law? Must have been another Friday news dump that got lost in the mix. How lucky for Obama.

The BBC reported in November 2010 that former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Witney Schneidman said, "You're not going to see U.S. boots on the ground."

It's another administration scam; boots are on the ground, and more will be.

Sen. John McCain expressed "regret" Obama didn't consult with Congress. He recalled "how past military deployments intended to further worthy humanitarian goals – resulted in tragedies that we never intended or expected."

Vietnam, anyone? Blackhawk Down?

As for Obama, it adds up to another "w-a-r," but he'd never admit it.

It's a good thing he isn't a white, male, Republican president named Bush or the wrath of the media would be on him for getting us into another military encounter.

Let's see, where are we now? It's so easy to lose track – Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, then there was Egypt, and Syria is stirring, and Obama is threatening Iran.

Yeah, it's easy to lose track and it's so-o-o-o-o-o confusing.

On one hand, Obama wants the military budget cut, a reduction in the number troops and massive cuts in armaments.

That means a smaller, less well-equipped military with reduced objectives.

On a practical level, that's the only way to see it, but then the Obama administration has never been accused of being practical – or logical – or even honest.

Note that Obama didn't set a time limit on this deployment, so it's not surprising that the BBC was told by a U.S. military spokesman that the "forces are prepared to stay as long as necessary to enable regional security forces to carry on independently."

Uh-oh. One-hundred combat troops in four countries for HOW LONG?

I don't know who's more stupid – the American people for accepting this nonsense, Congress for allowing itself to be jacked around by the White House, or Barack Obama who seems intent on the destruction and humiliation of the country that elected him?

After the invasion in Libya,the radicals excalated their death squads in N.Sudan.This is just to help them out with their take over of Africa . Killings all others who get in their way.

Bush was no better ... matter of fact thats why we got Obama

People RAN from Bush / McCain and thats why we are at "At this moment in time"
