Funny how colleges are costing towns, but no mention about the HUGE "white elephant" aka illegal aliens, who continue to suck up taxpayer funded bennies.

This site let's asks for your reaction, mine was furious.

Some New Jersey college towns are seeking new student fees to help defray the cost of police, fire and other services to the tax-exempt schools.

Wayne, Mahwah, Little Falls, Teaneck, Clifton and Montclair are among the towns that have passed a resolution asking the Legislature to back the idea, citing the tough economic times.

They want lawmakers to pass a bill charging all colleges and universities $100 per full-time student and $50 per part-time student. The money would go to the towns that house the schools, allowing municipalities to offset some of their operating expenses that are now provided for free.

Those opposed to the idea say paying tuition is hard enough.

And they note many students are the children of taxpayers who help foot the bills.

This used to be true of many small public colleges and universities located in towns and small cities across our country. However, now that "academia has "gone global" with so many other interests, those from other states and international students often are more actively recruited and held in higher esteem than local students, i.e., "the children of taxpayers".

Once the G.I. Bill started the "federal gravy train" rolling and then the "Baby Boom generation" came along, U.S. higher education seemed to become insaitable in their need for ever more funding and students, to the detriment of those who require a quality high school education, perhaps together with good vocational training, to earn their livings.
