Mexican President Felipe Calderón is expected to speak about employment and Joint Operation Chihuahua, the federal government's crackdown on organized crime, during a visit today in Juárez, Chihuahua state officials said.

Calderón will arrive at about 10 a.m. and is scheduled to visit three maquiladoras in different parts of the city during a visit that is expected to last about six hours.

The visit comes as Juárez has had more than 600 homicides this year due in part to a drug cartel war. Since Saturday, there have been a dozen homicides, including a man's body found wrapped in a blanket with his severed head in a black plastic bag.
