Your post reminded me of something-in a little local paper where I live someone took out a small 3"x4" ad in the main section of the paper-not the classifieds-that was asking for/if anyone who saw a plane around DC on Sept 11,2001,I think during or around the time of the attacks to please call. I wish I could remember more of the ad.
I will try to see if it is in this weeks edition, the edition I saw it in was either the last week of Aug. or the first week of Sept.

That command jet was probably scrambled from Andrews AFB when they became aware the nation was under attack. Andrews is right next to DC and the plane had yet to reach altitude where it wouldn't have been spotted so easily.

NO MYSTERY

Maybe it was the plane flying the Saudi royal family out of the US. I've heard rumors that the Bush administration gave the go-ahead for the Saudi royal family to fly out -- despite the fact all other civilian air transport was grounded.

It was the family of Osama Bin Laden. That was in the St Pete Times
