I need some help finding some information about the bank bailouts.

I have been looking for a couple of days now, about Chase's bailout and their supposed claim they paid it back.

Here's the story. I called Chase, who happened to have taken over our local bank that we have an account at. We have kept the account as it has been convenient not to change right now. However, I called about an issue of debits and ACH payments showing being in the process of clearing, and then being dumped out for a smaller debit when we were $10 short (hubby forgets to tell me, the bookkeeper) on. Anyways, this large payment was for our electric bill, and was important, I was fuming over this as I watch our account online daily to keep track of it.

The guy I dealt with was supremely rude and I went into another branch to make a deposit (after I had calmed down from going rounds with him and no answer as to why they dumped this for the debit made several days after it), and spoke with another employee. She quickly answered my question, nicely.

So, I talked to her about the rudeness of this guy, and how the banks already bad public image was enough to make us rethink banks over local credit unions, but this guys attitude was the icing on the cake. I mentioned the tarp and she quickly defended Chase and said they were forced to take the money, and quickly paid it back with a $3M penalty.

Now I remember hearing something about there actually being a slight of hand in that payment, that the interest earned had something to do with it, and they really did not pay it back, it just appeared they did....Does anyone remember about this, or knows a link for factual info?

I mentioned to this woman that albeit they claim it was paid back, that they should have never been in that situation to warrant government intervention anyways and this alone merits Amerians to desire to shy away from them (on top of bad customer service experiences).

Still I have her business card, and would like to inform her of the truth, aside what her employer had spoon fed her. I would love to find an article which factually lays out how this happened.
