11,588,500 Words: Obamacare Regs 30x as Long as Obamacare Law

Posted on October 14, 2013 by Cowboy Byte

Bureaucracies in the Obama Administration have thus far published approximately 11,588,500 words of final Obamacare regulations, while there are only 381,517 words in the Obamacare law itself.

That means unelected federal officials have now written 30 words of regulations for each word in the law.
What is commonly known as the Obamacare law includes both the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA). Since these bills were signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010, various agencies in the administration have published 109 final regulations spelling out how they are to be implemented.

Democrat Says Reading Obamacare Not My Responsibility

    By Onan Coca / 15 October 2013

The Democrat Party likes to pretend that it’s only Republicans who go around saying “off the wall” things. They usually point to conservative pro-life Republicans and their comments on abortion, or traditional marriage, as being controversial or illogical. The truth is that when these Republicans state their opinions on social issues, many people agree, but the comment is just politically incorrect.
But Democrats shouldn’t be so quick to cast stones, seeing as they live in a glass house.
Democrats are just as likely to say ridiculous and inane things, and thankfully we have Ms. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) to prove it for us. In a recent off-the-cuff interview with CNS News, Rep. Johnson said that she didn’t believe it was her responsibility to read the Obamacare legislation. Seriously. I have proof.

    video at link below

CNSNews: "The administration published 10,535 pages of final Obamacare regulations. Have you read all those regulations?"
    Johnson: "No, I have not."
CNSNews: "How many have you read?"
Johnson: "I've read the entire law."
CNSNews: "Entire law? Well, what about those final regulations?"
Johnson: "I have not read the final regulations, don't plan on doing it. I haven't had the time to do it. I don't think that that's my responsibility to do it."

I’m sorry? Let me see if I can understand this. Representative Johnson was elected by the people in her district in Texas to represent them in the legislature. The duty of the legislature is to pass legislation, and to do that, members of the legislature vote on suggested bills. The premise is that the legislators learn what the bills says and then vote on them in an educated manner. So, the most basic responsibility of a lawmaker would then be to read the laws being voted on.

So Ms. Johnson… Yes, it is your responsibility to read the laws that you plan on forcing on the rest of us.
