A Fresno County man is hospitalized and his wife is recovering after they were brutally beaten during a home invasion robbery. One look at Tamara Almgren and you can tell she's been through a terrible ordeal.
“They hit me in the arm with a lead pipe. They chipped the bone in my wrist. I have staples in my head where he hit me in the head with the lead pipe and split my head open,” Almgren said

It started before six Saturday morning. Her husband woke her up.
“He told me there's some girl out in the front yard. I opened the front door which was stupid and I asked her can I help you?” Almgren said.

At that point two men forced their way into the home.
Tammy's husband uses a wheelchair and crutches.
He was on his crutches that morning.
“They kicked the crutches out from underneath him and told him to sit down and shut up,” Almgren said.

The thieves asked - where's the money, are any guns in the house.
“All of a sudden smack he kicked me in the face. It was horrible,” Almgren told us.

Both Tammy and her husband were beaten - again and again.
“He had no mercy when he hit us and it didn't bother him at all and it didn't bother the other guys at all,” she said.

The thieves ransacked the house looking for anything of value and they beat Tamara and her husband for half an hour
They also broke into her sister-in-laws trailer next to the house.
They got away with TVs, a computer, the family silverware, and the parent's class rings from 1935 and 1940. And worst of all:

“They took our sanity, of peace, is what they took from us,” Almgren said.
Investigators are looking for four light skinned Hispanic men and a woman, all in their early 20s.
And while we were there, I noticed a knife on the ground. It didn't belong to Tamara or her husband. The sheriff's department is collecting it for evidence.
Tamara hopes the crooks will be caught soon.

“I just pray at night that we're going to be ok and that they won't come back,” she said.
