Six types of pie on Obamas' dinner menu

President Obama in his weekly address on Thursday said he planned to spend Thanksgiving with family and friend "eating some good food and watching a little football."

That “good food” will include thyme-roasted turkey and honey-baked ham, according to a dinner menu released by the White House.

Side dishes include two type of stuffing – cornbread and oyster – and braised winter greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato gratin, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and dinner rolls.

Six types of pie are also listed on the menu, including banana cream, coconut cream, pumpkin, apple, pecan and cherry.
The dessert menu has been scaled down from last year, when nine pies were listed.

Nine types of pie on WH Thanksgiving menu

Thanksgiving dinner for President Obama and the first family is heavy on traditional dishes, along with a favorite mac and cheese dish and a smorgasbord of pies.

The presidential menu, released by the White House press office, includes staples such as turkey and stuffing, as well as sweet potatoes and honey-baked ham.

In addition, however, the Obamas will be feasting on macaroni and cheese. Michelle Obama has promoted a recipe for cauliflower mac and cheese as a healthier take on the dish, an Obama favorite.

Dessert, however, is all pies, with nine different varieties on offer, from pumpkin to coconut cream.

Greens
Macaroni and Cheese
Sweet Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes

Sweet Potato Pie
