THREE PEOPLE CHARGED WITH STEALING WIRE FROM CHICKEN HOUSES 5/21/08

Three people have been charged in connection with the theft of wire from chicken houses located on Red Cut Road in the Geneva Community east of De Queen.

According to the Sevier County Sheriff’s office, on May 19th, Lovell Tollett reported someone had broken into his abandoned chicken houses on Red Cut Road and stole approximately $3,000 worth of wire. On Tuesday, May 20th Chief Deputy Kim Culp went to the houses at 4:27 p.m. to set up surveillance cameras due to the belief that the perpetrators would return to retrieve the rest of the wire. Culp pulled between the chicken houses and observed two individuals running from inside the northern chicken house in a westward direction toward Farm to Market Road. Culp called for backup and deputies responded to assist.

After the area was contained Deputy Omar Cervantes was called to bring the county tracking dog to the scene. While deputies were awaiting the arrival of the dog, a call was received from a citizen identified as Jeremy Adcock stating that two Hispanic males were walking down Farm to Market Road. Deputies responded to the location and apprehended the suspects on Farm to Market near the Halter Lane intersection. The two were placed under arrest and deputies suspected a third person was involved. The two admitted to the theft and admitted to a third person being involved. A text message was sent to the third person asking him to pick up the other two at a specified location and when he arrived, he was also arrested. The three were identified as 38 year old Victor Hugo Camarillo who resides in the Geneva area and was the driver of the vehicle. He will be charged with 2 counts of accomplice to breaking or entering and one count of accomplice to theft of property. Twenty-four year old Fernando Vasquez Diaz and David Valaquez both of hwy 71 north in De Queen are charged with two counts of breaking or entering and one count of theft of property. All three are suspected of being illegal aliens and ICE has been contacted.

Sheriff John Partain said that he and his department is grateful for the assistance from the citizens in the community. He said this is a good example of the community coming together to assist law enforcement in apprehending the suspects. Many community members helped search the area for the suspects.
