Federal funds to help with law enforcement

WASHINGTON – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said yesterday that California will receive $136 million in economic stimulus money to strengthen law enforcement programs throughout the state.

Agencies plan to use the money to reduce the flow of illegal drugs. Those efforts would include eradicating marijuana gardens, destroying methamphetamine labs and attempting to dismantle drug-trafficking organizations. The $787 billion stimulus bill set aside about $4 billion for law enforcement nationwide.
