Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Eureka

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Thursday morning about 25 miles south of Eureka, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:16 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 14.9 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was nine miles from both Petrolia and Ferndale, 12 miles from Rio Dell and 201 miles from Sacramento.
In the past 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
