U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: August 27 - September 2

(09/02/2009)Border Patrol agents seized over 968 pounds of marijuana, more than 355 pounds of cocaine, and 12.3 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested 25 criminal aliens and 12 gang members. There were 14 rocking incidents.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Indio, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being an 18th Street gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history to include negligent discharge of a firearm, force with a deadly weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Gila Bend, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous




conviction for murder second degree – associated with a street gang.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Casa Grande, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Florencia 13 gang member – an affiliate of the Surenos gang. Records checks revealed that he had both a criminal and immigration history to include driving under the influence, marijuana possession and possession of stolen property. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Vamori, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant in the State of New York for sexual abuse in the first degree by forcible compulsion. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor in the State of Oregon and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, to include a previous conviction for sex with a minor under 3 years old, lascivious acts with a child under 14 and possession of narcotics. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States and had an active arrest warrant in the State of California for probation violation.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico, and seized 284 pounds of marijuana near Nogales, Arizona. The subject attempted to abscond from agents while carrying a bundle of marijuana and fell. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Agents were notified that the subject was the suspected driver of a narcotic smuggling vehicle found abandoned along the international border. Records checks revealed the subject had been previously removed from the United States, and had convictions for transporting an illegal alien and aiding and abetting in the State of Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for aggravated sexual assault on a child and was sentenced to seven years of confinement. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 515 pounds of marijuana, a 1999 F-350 and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Agents performed a traffic stop and a Border Patrol canine alerted to a manufactured compartment. A search revealed 24 bundles of marijuana. Records checks revealed that both subjects have extensive criminal histories.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents assumed custody of 30 Mexican illegal aliens from local law enforcement officials after an anonymous phone call led to the discovery of the aliens in a stash house near Rio Rico, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. The subject claimed that after he illegally entered the United States, three unidentified individuals robbed him at gunpoint and subsequently pushed him into a barbed wire fence where he sustained multiple lacerations. The subject was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No shots were reported and a search for the three subjects was conducted with negative results.

Ramey Sector – Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Air and Marine (OAM). OAM assets were tracking and attempting to intercept a vessel off the coast of Puerto Rico. The vessel made landfall near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, where the subjects attempted to abscond on foot. Agents, as well as other law enforcement officers, apprehended a total of five subjects. A search of the vessel yielded approximately 355.5 pounds of cocaine and 12.3 pounds of heroin.


Spokane Sector – Border Patrol agents assisted local law enforcement officers in a multi-agency eradication of 21,229 marijuana plants near Nespelem, Washington. The seizures were performed at multiple locations over a three day period.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued 11 illegal aliens after the illegal aliens made a 911 call near Gu Vo, Arizona. OAM air assets located and directed the agents toward the group.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Sierra Vista, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject is a member of the Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang, and had a weapons conviction for which he was sentenced to three years confinement followed by three years probation. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Tucson, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for indecent exposure and sexual battery in the State of California. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Sureno 13 gang. Records checks revealed an extensive juvenile criminal record, and that he had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for rape and sodomy in the State of California and was sentenced to nine years of confinement. He had also been previously removed from the United States.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents reported that unidentified subjects assaulted an agent near Imperial Beach, California. After a foot chase, the agent grabbed a subject who was attempting to climb the fence back into Mexico. From over the fence, four other subjects appeared and grabbed the agent and attempted to drag him into Mexico. The agent deployed his OC spray and all of the subjects absconded into Mexico.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for sodomy, forcible intercourse and sexual contact with a minor in the State of New York. He had also been previously removed from the United States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Falfurrias, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had also been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 10 illegal aliens after they placed a distress call near Falfurrias, Texas. Agents were able to locate the group and offered medical assistance. All subjects declined medical attention. A minor in the group was reunited with his mother who had been arrested two days earlier.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for sexual assault of a child, is a registered sex offender in the State of Illinois, and had been previously removed from the United States. The subject also has an active arrest warrant in the State of Wisconsin.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested 27 illegal aliens near Amado, Arizona. The subjects claimed that six unidentified subjects in the United States robbed them of their money and food at gunpoint. No shots or injuries were reported.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents reported they had detained a USC after performing a vehicle stop near Quartzite, Arizona. An agent discovered two bundles of marijuana in the subject’s vehicle.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed that the subject had been previously convicted of three counts of attempted second degree murder and assault with a firearm in the State of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Ramey Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic near Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Records checks revealed that the subject had an outstanding warrant in the State of New York for heroin smuggling, had numerous aliases, and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents detained a USC after he illegally entered the United States, without admission, near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The subject claimed he was denied entry to the United States by officers at the port of entry because he lacked proper identification. Record checks confirmed the subject’s citizenship, but also revealed an extensive criminal history, including 14 years spent in prison and an active arrest warrant in the State of Texas for dangerous drugs. The subject also admitted to being a member of the Barrio Azteca gang.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject has two active arrest warrants – one for child molestation and another for robbery. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Bisbee, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for child abduction and obstructing justice in the State of Illinois, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a previous conviction for attempted sexual conduct with a minor and attempted involving or using minors in drug offenses in the State of Arizona. He had also been previously deported from the United States.
